Along the 1.5 km stretch of Yaowarat Road and its side streets, Bangkok's Chinatown transforms into one of Asia's greatest outdoor dining experiences after dark. The strip has been active since the 18th century when Chinese immigrants settled along the Chao Phraya River, and the food culture accumulated over those generations is extraordinary.
Must-eat items include: roasted duck and pork at T&K Seafood, hoy tod (crispy oyster omelette) from street vendors along Soi Texas, boat noodles at Nay Mong, and the legendary mango sticky rice from vendors along the main road. Kuang Seafood is the famous open-air restaurant everyone photographs. Arrive after 7pm when the vendors set up — the street is chaotic, hot and absolutely alive. Take the MRT to Hua Lamphong or the Chao Phraya Express to Ratchawong Pier.
